AI Chat Exporter is a browser extension that lets users export the AI chat conversation they are currently viewing on ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. This policy explains how the extension handles information.
AI Chat Exporter processes conversation text and formatting locally in the user's browser only after the user selects an export action. That local processing is necessary to create Markdown, PDF, or Obsidian-ready Markdown.
The extension does not collect, transmit, retain, sell, rent, share, or use conversation content, prompts, responses, browsing history, account details, or personal information for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any unrelated purpose. Conversation content is not written to extension storage. Exported data goes only to the clipboard or file location chosen through Chrome by the user.

This information remains in chrome.storage.local on the user's Chrome profile. It is used only to enforce the free tier and avoid unnecessary license checks. The extension does not place conversation content in extension storage.
The only external network call initiated by AI Chat Exporter is to Payhip at payhip.com to verify a license key that the user pastes into the popup. The extension sends only that license key with the Payhip product secret required by the verification API. A cached active license is rechecked after three days; if Payhip cannot be reached, a previously verified customer remains unlocked until verification is available again. No conversation content or personal data is sent.
Selecting Get a license opens the Payhip product page in a new tab. Payhip handles checkout through the seller's connected PayPal account and independently processes purchase and payment information under its own privacy practices. AI Chat Exporter does not receive or store payment details and does not collect personal data.
The extension runs a content script only on these official AI chat hosts:
chatgpt.comchat.openai.comclaude.aigemini.google.comAccess is used solely to read the currently displayed conversation in response to an explicit export request. The extension does not post messages, click controls, automate the sites, monitor browsing on other sites, or collect third-party or social-network data.
AI Chat Exporter does not collect or sell personal data. It does not share data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or other third parties. The user-initiated Payhip license verification described above is the only external disclosure performed by the extension.
Executable code is bundled with the extension and no code is loaded from remote servers. Export processing is local. Users may clear the extension's local data through Chrome's extension settings or by uninstalling the extension. Files already exported and clipboard contents are controlled by the user and the operating system.
AI Chat Exporter is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated and the revised policy will be published with or linked from the extension listing. Material changes to data practices will be disclosed before they take effect where required.
